The Community Governance Section forms part of the Community Governance and Economics Branch within the Department for Community Development and aims to:

  • Promote models of law and order that ensure social cohesion
  • Support for persons with disabilities and
  • Encourage networking amongst non-government organisations (NGO) and community based organisations(CBO).

This includes facilitating training provision for organisations supporting persons with disabilities, the development of workshop and training packages for NGO/CBOs and building linkages with churches, NGOs and CBOs, particularly within the context of rolling out the Integrated Community Development Policy.

The Section is currently working with partners to implement Law and Justice Training and Institutional training on strengthening networks and to finalise the draft National Disability Policy for endorsement by the National Executive Council.
