The Department for Community Development is headed by Secretary Joseph Klapat with a management team of 10 women and 10 men- the only government department with equal numbers of men and women in management roles.

The Office of the Secretary comprises different functions that report to the Secretary. These are Legal Officer, Mr Philip Appa; Internal Auditor, Mr Benjamin Lapana and the Media and Communications Officer, Ms Michelle Yiprukaman. In addition to these functions, the Secretary also has an Executive Officer, Executive Assistant and Filing Clerk/Driver.

The Media and Communications Officer is a relatively new role and is focused on maintaining and extending our media and public profile and ensuring that DFCD is keep improving its awareness campaign.

The Media and Communications Officer has undertaken tasks of producing the department’s monthly newsletter, press releases and statements for the Secretary and the Minister.
